Is it hard to use?
Not at all. Place the marker, glance at the level, align your ball, and putt. No learning curve.
Does it actually help or is it just a gimmick?
It's a real spirit level built into a golf ball marker. The bubble shows you the slope direction before you putt — the same physics a construction level uses, applied to reading greens. It won't fix a bad stroke but it gives you accurate information instead of a guess. Most golfers who try it on the first round don't putt without it after that.
